Endorsements

Below are a few of the general requirements for endorsement, which can be found in the Michigan nursing licensing guide:

  • Complete application with application fee.
  • Application fee is $54; with a temporary license, it’s $64.
  • Passing NCLEX or SBTPE scores.
  • Criminal background check.

    • Once the Board has received and reviewed your application, you will be mailed an Application Confirmation letter which will contain instructions on how to complete the Criminal Background Check.
  • License verification from the state or from www.nursys.com.
  • US Social Security Number.

Foreign applicants educated outside the U.S. must have a professional report completed by the CGFNS sent to the Board office - Visit the CGFNS website

Continuing competency

You will have to complete at least 25 contact hours for renewal. Renewals take place every two years. One hour must be in pain and pain symptom management. Visit the Michigan Board of Nursing website for more details.

In-person training

Blended class Classroom
Format This is a personalized and adaptive class completed online with a computer. After the class you will schedule with an instructor to complete the hands-on portion of the class. This is a traditional classroom class with an instructor.
Course completion Complete the online portion + hands-on skills session with an AHA Instructor. Contact a Training Center in your area to sign up for an instructor-led class, see above
Time The online portion of HeartCode BLS can be completed in approximately 1 to 2 hours. Time to complete the hands-on skills session varies around approximately 60 minutes, depending on your experience level.
