Each state needs a competent medical workforce to meet the needs of its citizens. However, the requirements for healthcare professions can differ between states. Endorsements

To apply for RN licensure by endorsement in Connecticut, you must submit the following:

  • A $180 application fee (all applications must be submitted online).
  • A completed and notarized online application.
  • A recent passport-style photograph.
  • Proof of graduation from an approved nursing program.
  • Verification of your nursing license either via Nursys or by submitting a Verification of Nurse Licensure form if your state does not participate in Nursys.

For foreign-educated nurses, you must submit a Credentials Evaluation Service (CES) Professional Report through the CGFNS.

A 120-day temporary permit is available for nurses holding valid licenses in another U.S. state while awaiting full licensure oai_citation:7,Registered Nurse Licensure oai_citation:6,RN Licensure by Endorsement.

Renewals

Continuing Education

Blended class Classroom
Format This is a personalized and adaptive class completed online with a computer. After the class you will schedule with an instructor to complete the hands-on portion of the class. This is a traditional classroom class with an instructor.
Course completion Complete the online portion + hands-on skills session with an AHA Instructor. Contact a Training Center in your area to sign up for an instructor-led class, see above
Time The online portion of HeartCode BLS can be completed in approximately 1 to 2 hours. Time to complete the hands-on skills session varies around approximately 60 minutes, depending on your experience level. A full BLS provider course can take 4.5 hours to complete, including skills practice and skills testing.
