Paramedics arrived quickly, but his heart stopped before reaching the hospital. Thanks to early CPR and a rapid response from UAMS’s ECMO team, Howard survived 50 minutes without a steady pulse. Diagnosed with Addison’s disease, he recovered without brain damage and re-learned basic functions. Now working a safer job and prioritizing family, he credits his survival to timely intervention and medical teamwork. His story highlights the life-saving power of ECPR and the importance of fast CPR response.

On December 4, P.E. teacher Emiliano Torres acted swiftly when 6-year-old Payton Sisco collapsed while jogging during gym class. Noticing her unresponsive state, he radioed for help and immediately began CPR. His fast actions revived Payton, who has since returned to school and shares a close bond with Torres. Payton’s mother, who also works at the school, was relieved to see her daughter awake. The family is grateful, and school officials now stress the importance of CPR training for all educators.

  • Heartbreaking loss: father passes away while helping son move into arkansas college dormitory

Aug 27, 2023 -- Tragedy struck as the new school term commenced at an Arkansas college, with a father losing his life while aiding his son's dormitory move. Police from Arkansas State University reported that on August 19, they responded to an emergency where the man collapsed and was unresponsive, foam emanating from his mouth. Bystanders made efforts at CPR. The man, Jeremy Tillman, aged 45, was identified by officers, and he was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. His fiancée described him as a caring, patient, and devoted partner who positively influenced her and her children.

  • Buffalo Bills incident sparks CPR awareness surge: Importance highlighted by American first response

Jan 5, 2023 -- Millions witnessed a tense moment as Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin required CPR. Diana Bolton, from American First Response, devotes herself to CPR training, emphasizing its criticality. "Each minute without defibrillation lowers survival chances by 7 to 10%," Bolton cautioned. The incident sparked increased interest in CPR among Arkansans. Bolton revealed a startling fact: 70% of out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur at home, underscoring the need for widespread CPR knowledge. She emphasized the importance of quick action and familiarity with AEDs. Bolton's efforts aim to empower individuals to save lives promptly, stressing that readiness is key.
